This policy describes how SeaBid ehf (Iceland) and SeaBid America LLC (Wayne, PA, USA) (together, “SeaBid”, “we”, “us”) collect and use information when you visit www.seabid.app (the “Site”). The operational auction platform at market.seabid.app is covered by a separate privacy notice you will see when you create an account there.
SeaBid ehf is the controller for visitors located in Iceland, the EEA, the UK, and the rest of the world. SeaBid America LLC is the controller for visitors located in the United States. The two entities share information with each other to operate SeaBid as a single business.
Information we collect
When you submit the contact form on the Site we collect:
- Your name and email address (required)
- Your role (producer, buyer, both, other)
- The message you choose to send us, and any company or phone details you include
When you browse the Site we also collect standard, anonymous usage data — pages viewed, referrer, approximate location derived from IP, device type — through Vercel Analytics and, where enabled, Google Analytics. These tools do not store your IP address in a form that identifies you.
How we use it
- To respond to your inquiry and follow up about SeaBid
- To understand which content is useful and improve the Site
- To send service emails using Resend (our transactional email provider)
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.
Who we share it with
Contact form submissions are sent to our team inbox via Resend. The Site is hosted on Vercel, which processes request logs and analytics on our behalf. Where Google Analytics is enabled, anonymized usage data is processed by Google. Each of these providers acts as a processor under our instructions.
We do not share your information with anyone else except where required by law.
Cookies
The Site uses a small number of first-party cookies and similar storage to remember UI state and to support analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
Contact form submissions are retained for as long as we are corresponding with you and for a reasonable period afterward. Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months in aggregate form. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your rights — United States
If you are a resident of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you
- Request a copy of that information in a portable format
- Correct inaccurate information
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to legal exceptions
- Opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising — there is nothing to opt out of
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
We do not use personal information to make decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects without human involvement. To exercise any of these rights, email seabid@seabid.app. We will verify your request using the email address on file or other reasonable means. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
Your rights — Iceland, the EEA, and the UK
If you are located in Iceland, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, under the GDPR (and the Icelandic and UK equivalents) you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, and object to processing of your personal information. We rely on the following legal bases to process your information:
- Legitimate interest — to respond to inquiries you send us and to operate and improve the Site
- Consent — for optional analytics and any communications you opt into
- Legal obligation — where required by law
To exercise any of these rights, email seabid@seabid.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd) or your local supervisory authority.
International data transfers
SeaBid operates in both Iceland and the United States, and most of our service providers (including Resend, Vercel, and Google Analytics) are based in the US. This means information you provide may be transferred to, stored, and processed in a country other than the one you live in. Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA, the UK, or Iceland to a country that the European Commission has not recognized as providing an adequate level of protection, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum, where relevant) to protect the information.
Children
SeaBid is a business-to-business service. The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We will update this policy when we change how we handle information. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
